Hada Labo Whitening BB Cream Review + FOTD

Hello, friends! How was your weekend? Mine was super busy because we have two house guests plus I’m packing for my trip. Four more sleeps till NYC! And Mr BB just added SF and Montreal to our travel itinerary in our first week in America.

Today, I bring you a review on one of my pet topics — BB cream. It occurred to me that I haven’t done one in a long time (my last one was a few weeks ago) and I should get cracking…

I just want to show you how the new Hada Labo Whitening BB Cream Natural Ochre looks like on me. Like its predecessor, the Hada Labo BB Cream, I’m a huge fan of this BB cream. Both have SPF32PA+++ and behave similarly though the only difference is that the whitening version has been infused with vitamin C to help nourish and repair the skin.

The finish is very natural and skin-like with a slight dewiness. For my oily combination skin, this still sits pretty well over sunscreen and moisturizer, plus it is quite long-lasting. I would say you can wear this for 8 to 10 hours without having to blot too much. I tend to blot my face in the late afternoon once and by 9pm I’m ready to remove it at the 12 hour mark when it gets that worn look and starts to slip from the face. It is not as long wearing as Benefit’s Hello Flawless Foundation (review coming soon!) but it’s pretty good considering it is warm in Tokyo.

The coverage is sheer to medium and evens out redness and faint spots. However, for larger blemishes, you would need a separate concealer. I’m quite tanned now so this shade, Natural Ochre, is just a wee too light for me but it was easily fixed by some bronzer. In non-summer months, this BB cream shade fits me to a tee and it looks the same as the original Hada Labo BB Cream in Natural Ochre.

The bonus of this BB cream is it’s free of fragrance, parabens, mineral oil, and alcohol and contains Hada Labo’s signature hyaluronic acid concoction which hydrates skin.

  1. i just bought the hada labo bb cream! i been looking at it forever but never bought one. i am glad to read that u like it so much! hopefully it works for me just as well.

i am wearing mostly oriks bb creams or the one by mentholatum.

have a nice trip to USA :D

  2. Hi yumeko! I hope the hada labo bb cream works out for you. Hada Labo never fails me…I also prefer the bb cream to the bb emulsion as well. On really hot days, I just slap on sunscreen and then a bb cream – I skip moisturizer altogether.

  3. What a fresh look :) I love the dewy finish!

  4. i like that look it seems very natural and youthful very beautiful! have fun on your trip i highly recommend trying the sourdough bread(if youre the type to enjoy flavor of bread) around pier 39 or a quick stroll/drive-by in golden gate park in SF if you have time its really beautiful.

  5. @Dovey: thank you! That’s why I love this BB cream too!

@kimby: thanks for your SF recommendations. :) I think it’s one of the prettiest cities in the world. Hada Labo BB creams always look very natural…

  6. Your house looks so nice and spacious! Can I visit?

  7. Haha….yes of course, Ally!

  8. OMG I think I need this BB cream! Vitamin C!!

Btw, what is the undertone like?

  9. Hello!
Comparing to Ettusais’ BB cream, which one do you prefer?
I have read a lot of raves about Hadalabo BB cream and wondered if I should try it out, but I got Ettusais at home, and it makes my skin flaky…
But yours skin looks so nice in this photo!

  10. Hi Ting, I prefer Hada Labo to Ettusais. Perhaps Ettusais is too drying for you as it has alcohol which is in the top five ingredients in the list. I usually use Ettusais at the height of summer since my skin is oily combination and need some oil control. Other than summer, I can’t wear Ettusais because it would be too drying. Or you could put on more moisturizer before you slick on Ettusais.

  11. Thanks a lot for the advice!!!
    :D :D

  12. Hi Yuming,
Your skin looks flawless! Is it alright to combine primer + BB cream + foundation?

  13. @Naan: Well it depends on your skin really. I don’t use primers at all but I have been putting on my salicylic acid treatment, sunscreen, then bb cream since it is very warm in Tokyo.

  14. love your pic..u look great!
I love love Nars blush..I started using my JS blush but I just felt it paled besides NARS. heheh…

  15. @xuan: thanks dearie! I love NARS blushes too!! JS is quite different in texture and concept though…I still like the quad idea though I would have to agree that NARS has better quality overall.

  16. lol, just like you I love this Hada Labo whitening BB cream a lot… and I am glad that your skintone is so similar to mine…. and probably a similar skin type too!! I love how natural it looks on my face and not to mention their whitening benefits!!!

Looking forward for more reviews from you!!!

  17. Hi Olivia: I’m so glad to hear that you love this as much as me!!
