How to make tasty almond milk with amino collagen

I have another yummy drink recipe that goes great with Meiji Amino Collagen powder just for you today.

I had a customer who complained of an acidic stomach after drinking juice with the collagen powder, so it got me thinking, “What is not acidic, delicious, and low-fat before bed?”

Drinking milk before heading off to sleep has a comforting image, but cow’s milk has got a bad name for being hard to digest for some folks (yup me included, I’m lactose intolerant), and there are several non-dairy options available. I’m not a fan of soy because it is still quite acidic and it tastes kind of blah, so I was thrilled to discover the dreamy flavor of almond milk. Just to let you know, it’s got fewer calories than low-fat dairy milk.

Here’s how to make a tasty almond milk drink:

Recommended recipe:

1 cup whole almonds*
1 cup water
2 dates (add a couple more if you like yours sweeter)
1 dash cinnamon

Blend almonds and water until the brown bits look grainy, then strain the milk with a nut milk bag or sieve or cheesecloth. Pour the milk back into the blender — toss in the dates and a spoonful of Meiji Amino Collagen, blend for a few seconds, and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon. I sleep like a baby after having a glass of this…

*soak for at least 8 hours beforehand to release enzyme inhibitors.

the drink looks delish…yumz

Thanks, dear. I’ve tried other nuts and seeds to make nut milk and almond milk is still my favorite so far :)

i should try it… i just drank a pre-packaged almond drink… the powdered kind u put in hot water … but i think its filled with too much sugar and not as nutritious…
also i wont be able to drink it with the collagen because of the heat… great recipe!

Thanks, babe – it is so easy and can be done in five minutes.

If you really prefer not to use a blender, I think there are brands out there that carry no-sugar almond milk in a carton (not powdered; just in liquid form).

Just to let you know, collagen powder can be stirred into hot water as it stays the same at any temperature. :)

Yum, I love nut and seeds milk, and almond milk is definitely one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

My pleasure — the Chinese believe that almond in soups and desserts are great for skin. I didn’t realize that almonds are quite a popular ingredient in Chinese food until one of my gal pals pointed it out.
