Rave: Jill Stuart Eyelash Curler

Hi my loves, are you all geared up for 2013? I think next year will be more awesome than 2012 which was already pretty fabulous. How are you spending your NYE? We are going to a house party with friends and will sip champagne while watching the fireworks on the street.

Sydney is great as always and I’m basking in the vacation vibe. I know I travelled alot this year but it was more to be with the husband and I still maintained my regular work routine as much as possible on the road (with shopping and sightseeing thrown in). London was my last holiday but it was one of those crazy mad ones without much sleep and non-stop going out.

What does a holiday mean to you? Well, for me, it’s about not doing much and it can be anywhere — though being on a beach helps lol!

Today’s post is a really simple one and it was love at first sight. The design is sweet and cute with the delicate charm hooked on one of the loops. The material is like a rose silver feel though I’m not sure if my photo picks that up much.

Despite its pretty looks, the Jill Stuart eyelash curler is a dream to use. It is so smooth when you squeeze the levers and you don’t need much strength at all to get an awesome curl. I had been using the Shiseido one (it is USD20 but goes for 1100JPY=USD13 in Japan) and it wasn’t the right shape for my eyes and if I wasn’t careful, it would clip my eyelids easily. It felt clunky as well compared to the Jill Stuart one. In fact, it wasn’t pleasant to use so I tended not to reach for it. I just thought I was lazy!

BUT…. after using the Jill Stuart one, I’m using it daily and it’s not because it’s new, I swear. It is effortless and I never realized how important that was. It is also at an affordable price of 1260JPY (USD15) which is a bonus.

As much as I am a fan of Japanese drugstore products, I still think that some things are better purchased at counters.

I’ve to say that I’ve not tried the Shu Uemura eyelash curler which is priced at USD20 or the Chanel one which is a whopping USD34. My interest in eyelash curlers is renewed, I must say, and I’m curious how good the Shu Uemura one is.

Has anyone tried all three of these brands and have any feedback?

  1. Just a quick one to wish you a Happy New Year, love!
    xx

  2. @Joey: Thanks, dearie! Happy new year to you too :)

  3. Hi, I love your write-ups on beauty products.
I moved to Tokyo two months ago for work and I was hoarding loads of my heavy beauty products from Malaysia as I was afraid I couldn’t find the stuffs that I used back home.
I have tried Shu Uemura eyelash curler & Shiseido’s one. Shu Uemura is a good buy and even when I am doing my eye make-up in a rush, it does not clip my eyelid while the Shiseido does that. I would love to get one of the Jill Suart’s as it looks really cute in your photo. Thanks for the good post :-)

  4. Hi Amy, I used to do that when I moved to Japan over six years ago! But I think once you get to know and experiment with more Japanese products, you’ll do that less often. ;) Thanks for the Shu Uemura feedback. If my Jill Stuart one ever spoils, I would try the Shu one.
