There’s no rest for the wicked. We are sending out orders even though we have traveled to Hokkaido for a week-long ski trip.
The beauty of having an iPhone is it helps us mix work and pleasure wherever we are:
We hooked up to the Internet to check incoming orders at Chitose Airport in Sapporo — I scribbled down the addresses and sent off some collagen from the airport’s post office.
The work doesn’t stop but we’re not preventing ourselves from dipping our toes into having fun. Snowboarding in the arvo and working in the evening, whilst ensconced in a gorgeous lodge and marshmallow covered trees and hills just outside our window.
We tried sending out products during our Sydney trip last Christmas and it worked out pretty well but we ran out of inventory. With that experience under our belts, we kind of know what to expect for this trip in Hokkaido so we’re better prepared.
On a more personal note, our little sojourn in Niseko is billed as our trial-run for our dream of working from snow-capped ski-fields and/or white sandy beaches. Some folks may see it as a pity to never rest from work but neither of us are individuals who resent that and we accept it as a way of life. It’s fun workin’ and playin’ hard.

Yeah, that’s the trade-off as it’s more challenging to focus on work while travelling. But with enough preparation, you can lessen your work load for a few days to a week.
Coming back to our base in Tokyo, I do feel the stress of catching up with other parts of the biz that wasn’t so urgent while we were away.
Good experiment anyway! Will prob refine it as we go along.
