Small beauty splurge + swatches

With the changing season, I felt the need to refresh my wardrobe and make up a little. I’ve not indulged in this type of thing for awhile and it feels good to focus on being girly.

I want to get away from wearing sad old tired stuff all the time, but that’s not to say I’m dumping out a whole lot of stuff and buying hordes of new ones. I just added in new things to spruce up the old.

Personally I think it’s important to rejuvenate yourself in one way or another every few months — clearing out and organizing to make way for clearer thinking and being.

Okay, that’s my intellectual spiel to justify some new cosmetics…

Let’s cut to the chase, what did I get with my 10% Matsumotokiyoshi discount? Compared with other bloggers’ hauls, this is quite small, I’ve to warn you, but there are pretty colours all the same…

I’m so in love with Integrate’s Butterfly Grade palettes — the purple palette won me over so I decided to load up on more. I’m not keen on the packaging but the shades are pigmented and sparkly…

I love this pink and brown palette and put this in my basket immediately after I saw it. I was sorely disappointed by Canmake’s teeny tiny pink and brown one as it was too pale and felt like I was spreading a lot of nothing on my eyelids so this one is a good replacement.

I always keep the plastic boxes for a short while till I get the instructions down pat…

I was never taken by Visee before until I spotted their new Royal Party nude eye shadow palettes. I’ve been meaning to get an earthy (but sparkly) palette for the longest time so was happy to nab this at 1,500JPY (original price 1,800JPY).

I’ve been having fun and games with finding the right shade of blush lately. Ever since I junked my Christian Dior one, I haven’t been pleased with my Bobbi Brown shade, or the Canmake Cheek Gradation blush palette (too baby pink), so I decided to get a new one. It was a toss up between the Maquillage one or this one by Esprique Precious. The shades looked more natural so I went with Esprique Precious in the end.

I adore the shiny girly designs that Esprique Precious has for their compacts!

I’m using this as we speak and it’s a very natural looking blush even after I let it sit for a few hours. The problem with the Canmake palette was that it looked great right after application, but after oxidizing several hours later, the pink becomes a bit too garish for my skin tone.

I’ve never really strayed from Nivea as my lip balm of choice but I felt like trying something new so I got this Mentholatum Waterlip scentless lip balm. Scented lip balms are fun for two days and then I get sick of the flavour — I have perfume ADD, I know…

I also purchased various daily beauty essentials like sanitary pads, hair care, bits and bobs like an eye pencil sharpener. It tallied up to 13,500JPY which was quite modest for a “splurge”, hence mini haul. I prefer to spread out my buys so my wallet won’t hurt so much.

What did you buy recently that knocked your socks off?

Integrate’s Rainbow Grade Eyes are indeed sparkly and pigmented! Love how the swatches look on your arm *gahh you enabler!*

OMG I was just admiring this particular Visee palette, and here you are with it! How do you like it?

Yup the Canmake blush wasn’t really to my liking, too shimmery and bronzer-ish =[

Thanks for commenting! I like the My Beauty Diary masks. They aren’t the best for moisturizing, but I do like how they smell!

lovely haul! you should check out Maquillage face creator palettes. worth every penny!

Yeah I was wondering about those face creator palettes – the shades don’t look entirely like they are blushes…maybe they are also for contouring?

Cool, I’m going try to buy some to try!

The Visee palette is gorgeous. I was looking for a brown/nude/gold all in one and I found it! So was v happy. It just came out too and was on sale. Double win.

awwww, u got the integrate palettes. I heard good stuff about it so far… (temptation!!)

I kinda like Canmake’s cream blush but the problem is I have to use my fingers! =( Kinda points down for hygiene.

I just bought a NARS blush recently, we would see how it turns out…

@Xuan-er: sorry for the late reply. Been so busy offline that I hardly check my messages. hmmm… actually if your fingers are clean I don’t see why it can’t be hygienic :) Esp if only you are using it. The cream blush is so popular and talked about that I am wondering if I should buy it!
