Sydney Vlog: Bush Running, Dumplings & Uggs

Hello friends, I’m really enjoying putting up a video every Thursday. It gives me an extra way to express myself on the blog and I hope you are digging it as well…

Today’s video is a vlog on the shenanigans I was up to during my holiday in Sydney. I filmed quite a few snippets and have three videos’ worth of footage. This holiday I was active but relaxed and rested. The husband and I would run and beach on alternate days which balanced out all the naughty eating and drinking. Usually our schedule is packed to the gills with seeing people but we took it very slow and easy this time, especially since we had three weeks and not a fortnight.

Sydney is like my second home so I hope you like this vlog. It’s also a first for me to be in my glasses on YouTube and I’m really cool with it.

Products mentioned:
Sukin Purifying Shampoo
Sukin Moisture Restoring Conditioner
Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream
Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream SPF15
Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunscreen Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush
Jurlique Rose Hand Cream
Crocs Adrina Flat II
Ugg Australia Tidal Long Boots Sand

Have you been to Australia before? If so, what’re your favourite things and places?

P.S.: Wanna watch my last video on My Top 10 Japanese Beauty Products in 2012? It’s right here.

  1. Nice Trilogy and Jurlique products! Japan definitely overprices them, along with everything else imported. *sigh*

And wow, I did not know that about Uggs! Deckers Uggs company had always given me a weird vibe, but now I know there is some logic behind that. I would love to support the local Australian farms for the footwear should I ever get a chance. :)

  2. @peach: Thanks for watching my vlog. I ended up enjoying the Trilogy products throughout my three-week stay and would recommend them as summer staples. Appreciate that you understand where I’m coming from when it comes to buying Uggs. ;)

  3. I love Australia and visited countless times (I used to work for Qantas)…fav city is Melbourne hehe. So anyway I’ve never given UGG boots a second thought cos it’s always sunny in Singapore. Now that I live in Japan and seen so many UGG boots around I didn’t even know the difference until your video. I wish I could support Australian made UGG boots in future should I visit again.

Great video! Specs or no specs haha…

  4. So nice video. I love your voice so much, it is so soothing, like music to my ears. I have never been to Australia. It must be so beautiful there. I would love to try out Trilogy brand, particularly their rose hip face oil. Actually, I wanted to purchase it a few weeks ago, and then, I do not know, I did not. I found it at US Amazon, the price was quite okay. That Jurlique hand cream looks and sounds good. I love good hand creams since my hands are always so dry in winter months. Regarding UGGS…I do not like them. I have a pair of them purchased 5 years ago, and the quality is just awful. Honestly! I wear them rarely because I do not like them. My pair is unfortunately not original Australian, but by that American brand UGGS made in China. I was so shocked when I purchased them online for over 200 USD and saw made in China. Of course, I did not know that they were not Australian. So, genuine Australian Uggs like yours are probably excellent. And, yours look also much better than these by US UGGS.
    Have a good day! :)

  5. P.S. I am always for supporting local and small companies, so I am so glad you are aware of it, and you did not purchase fake Uggs from US company named Uggs (or whatever its name is). :)

  6. Cute V-log! I love hearing bloggers talk/move rather than seeing static pictures haha. Not sure if I’ll ever do that myself, I’m too camera shy. Personally i’m not a fan of UGGs but my sister really likes them and they really suit her, yours look great.

  7. i think it is always best to support local when you have the opportunity and ability to do so. interesting facts about ugg australia i never knew but i did wonder about the occasional small news about certain ugg shoe companys being sued and such.
how do you compare shopping in an australian mall to the malls in japan? from what i hear apparently picture or video taking in japan malls/stores isn’t allowed?

  8. Love your vlogs! I miss Australia! My family and I stayed in Australia when I was 11 near Brisbane. I have good memories of Australia and I wish I can go back for a visit. I wanna try those dry shampoos… Oh and I got a sample size of the Jurlique Rose Hand Cream from the GlossyBox my Japanese friend sent me :)

  9. @Agnes: Thanks… I never knew you worked for Qantas. Must have been so nice to go to Australia so frequently. Actually Aussies only wear Ugg boots at home and think folks who wear them outside are “bogens” haha…so I only ever wear them out of the house outside of Oz…;)

  10. @Sandra: Glad you like my vlog. It was so fun to put together! I think rose hip oil for winter is excellent. I have never tried Deckers’ Uggs so I can’t speak for their quality but I have bought cheap fake Uggs from H&M and they were nasty…very thin soles and not snug around the ankles so didn’t keep me warm! I can’t wait to wear my new Uggs…

  11. @winnie: it is a little nerve wracking to film in public but I don’t think people are watching or even paying attention to me at all haha! I can’t get up the guts to film when there are people around me. I always wait till the coast is clear or just a few people who are milling about in the distance.

  12. @kimby: Yeah photography/filming is not allowed in Japanese stores. You could prob get away with it inside a mall, outside stores though. Aussie malls have different brands from Japanese malls that’s for sure but the overall mall layout is similar – food court in the basement or top floor with loads of cheap to medium range type shops in betweem. Department stores in Japan are very different to Western ones though – way more expensive and carefully curated.

  13. @Barbra: That must’ve been fun to spend a year or two Down Under. I love Brisbane too…cool city. I highly recommend dry shampoo to keep the oilies away. I’m beginning to think that hair doesn’t necessarily get “dirty” in just a day or two unless you do something very strenuous or messy, so to clean it so often would remove the natural oils that keep hair shiny and healthy – not good. Hope you can get your hands on some good dry shampoo!

  14. Hilarious about the Sydney trains being different to Tokyo trains! You poor thing! I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! xoxo

  15. @Hello Sandwich: Hi dearie!! Thank you for watching :) Haha….It was an adventure on the Sydney Rail…!!
