Sydney Vlog: Dermalogica Facial, Doggies, & Cupcakes!
***Please remember to watch this in HD – it’s waaaay better!***
Hello my fellow beauty lovers, sorry if my posting schedule seems out of whack. As always, the year only feels like it starts after I return from my year-end holidays. I’ve been away for one month and I’m definitely disoriented in terms of mind, body, and soul.
But I promise that I’ll get back into the groove soon and I do have some posts that I’m excited to share with you.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my first Sydney vlog. For now, I’ve another vlog from my Sydney holiday where I recount my experience at a facial appointment. I don’t wear any makeup here except for the bit when I head out of the house but that’s the thing about vlogs — you get to see all sides of me, instead of just the good moments. The product that I mention is the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque, and here’s the link in case you are interested to find out more.
I cannot believe it’s almost Friday and I look forward to getting my life back in order. Till then, it’s tons of laundry, cleaning, and unpacking!
Do you go for facials regularly? If so, what kind of treatment do you usually opt for?

Thanks for the video! I’ve never had a facial, but I really want to. I have large pores and I’d love to have someone unclog them for at least a little while.
You might have mentioned this before, but what kind of camera do you use for your videos?
PS, if you’re ever interested in doing a “Vegan Beauty Products in Japan” video, or something similar, let me know! It’d be fun to collaborate (as I do a Vegan Stuff in Japan series) and get your expertise.
Hi Jordan! How are ya? You have beautiful skin – didn’t notice large pores at all at the FEW event! Do you have at least three good vegan beauty products to recommend? If you would like to do a guest post/video, I’ll be happy to collaborate.
I always love watching your videos! Thank you so much for taking time and recoding them. Sydney seems to be a beautiful city. I love your lunch, and those cupcakes look very yummy. I am a huge dog-lover, so I do not have to say that the dogs in your video make me smile. I have never had a professional facial. It is because I have no patience to go to a facialist, and I do not want to pay for something I can do by myself. I know it is not the same, but this is just my philosophy. I have already tried some Dermatologica products, but I was not that impressed to repurchase them. But, yes, they are okay. Some people adore this brand. Have a good weekend!
Hi Sandra, thanks for your glowing feedback. Actually I don’t think I’ve actually voluntarily gone for a facial and paid for it. I usually receive them as gifts but I must say my MIL has good taste in this particular facialist. She did not try to be pushy about selling products and made me feel relaxed and pampered. I do agree facials are expensive but I do rem an ex-coworker who was over 50 and she had the most amazing skin. She told me her secret was her weekly facial and she didn’t believe in splurging on expensive skincare.
i’ve never been one to join facials programs
because i heard they pretty much talk you into buying packages which you will never be able to use up, money goes wasted, etc
Am wondering if I should join some sort of facials though – just don’t know where to start!
Hi Jenni, I don’t like salons that keep pushing products which reminds me why I am not a fan of facials. I just want to lie there and be pampered and not be blasted with “you should get this or that product”. Perhaps if you have a particular concern, you could go for a facial that focuses on that? But I think if you don’t have issues with your skin, it’s best to just do what you are doing.
I love going for facials but it has been quite a while since I last had one. I don’t care for the extra bells and whistles, I just want them to do a good job at extracting comedones and unclogging pores hahaha
Is Jurlique hand creams nice? I’ve never tried them!
Crabtree & Evelyn and L’occitane makes hand creams in a bundle box but I found that they both sat on the surface of hands, when you wash your hands it’ll be super slippery! I gotta try Jurlique soon!
@Blair: Fair enough! A simple reason is good reason enough to visit the facialist.
@Jenni: Ooo yes, Jurlique is non-greasy but moisturizes hands very effectively…and I like pretty much all their scents – lavender, citrus, rose, and jasmine. The only flaw I find is the hefty price tag which is why I try to grab tubes of it when it goes on sale.
@yuming Belated thanks! I notice them, but maybe I should get over it. XD
As far as vegan products, I use a lot of American stuff, so I really need to investigate what Japan has. Hmm, makeup shopping trip for “research”… And of course if you stumble across any yourself, please let me know!
im a beauty junkie and makeup hoarder! wearing makeup on a daily basis (except for weekends) is already part of my routine! and so, i see to it that facials should be part of my monthly budget! im a regular customer of dermalogica facials, been trying their basic facials for years! im a derma hopper too since my skin is breaking out and need a “reliable” dermatologist!
for monthly facials either i choose facial with diamond peel, or facial with ionto, or facial with obagi whitening. it actually depends on which facial program my skin needs.
ohhh.. i’ve tried murad as well. i think dermalogica and murad has the best customer service! i havent tried clarins since they are pricey here in my country.
@Sarah: I would love to try a Murad facial. I heard their products are very good! I think I got lucky with this facialist because my MIL and SIL are both regulars and they rave about her all the time. Good luck in finding the right facialist
