Just thought it would be fun to throw out a question for you guys today:
What beauty item do you spend on the most and the least?
Can you guess mine?
I spend the most on……base makeup….I’ve even got videos here and here.
And a picture of my whole collection:
Why do I keep buying foundations? I think it’s because you can rarely get it just perfectly right with base makeup. There will always be that “gap” — a wee bit too yellow, a wee bit too pink, a wee bit too light or dark etc. And even if you do find that perfect base, your skin could change with the seasons and your “perfect” foundation is no longer that. Different occasions also call for different types of coverage….I could go on and on…I’m trying to curb this latest obsession because there is only so much a girl can use at any given time and the stuff does expire since it is made of liquid.
And what do I spend on the least? Eye liner.
I know there are super snazzy gel liners by MAC and what not but I would rather splurge the cash on something “pretty” like an eyeshadow palette.
Although I’m a firm fan of the Dollywink Koji liquid eyeliner which is like around 1,000JPY (USD13), I find myself almost always reaching for their pencil version instead — surprising, eh?
I think the liquid liner is great for a more defined look but I think I’m just super casual from Mondays to Fridays so I prefer a softer look.
Now your turn!

i like to mix my foundations it isnt 100% perfect but i can always make it darker or lighter if its not the right tone. and i tend to spend my pretty pennys on brushes and eye shadows and im looking for a good liquid eyeliner that i can control(my hands are just so shaky).

@romelyn: I have tried pretty affordable eyebrow powder and it’s fine by me too.
@kimby: I love splurging on eyeshadow palettes as well and I’m beginning to invest in quality brushes because I realized no matter how wonderful your products are, if your application is sub par, it still wouldn’t look good.

I spend the most on face creams (and lotions), BB creams, and fragrances. Especially fragrances. Unfortunately. But I have learned how to control myself.

Like you I spend the most on base makeup. I’ve bought all kind YSL, Dior, Chanel, MUFE, MAC. Mostly because I’ve had allergic reactions to a lot of drugstore brands. Also I get sucked in by SAs at makeup counters. I spend the least on Lipstick. Usually I get Revlon, CoverGirl, or Almay. I have a few MAC lipsticks but mainly cheap lippies.

Agreed! Foundation… without a good base, the whole look just doesn’t seem right.
And I almost never use liquid eyeliner, either.

Thanks for the comments, ladies. Sorry for the delayed response….still in the thick of wedding season. Have made more skincare purchases on this trip and can’t wait to share them with you. Also looking forward to more beauty debates!

definitely the most on foundation. the least on lip products balms/lipsticks. as long as the smell/taste is not offensive i really couldnt care how much it costs.

@Heather: I do agree with lip balms…though I would steer clear of those with salicylic acid — it made my lips peel like no tomorrow!
