What Is The Most You Would Pay For A Beauty Product?
Hi my loves, whoo – what a week! I’m so looking forward to the weekend but I’m going to nerd out and hang out at home. February will be a busy month of travel so I want to savour my last free weekend to just be. The house needs some love and it’s time to roll up my sleeves to do a bit of scrubbin’ – I can’t wait? LOL!
As I made my beauty resolutions for 2013, the topic of luxury products has been floating in my mind more often these days. I’ve also invested in some high quality base makeup for my darker skin tone (and I’ve a renewed interest in pricey Bobbi Brown products, too) and I’m so happy to use products that just don’t fail me. I do understand that there is a clear difference between an expensive product and a good one. But today’s topic is about where my comfort zone lies price-wise for beauty products.
For me, I would drop a pretty penny on a high-end skincare or cosmetic item and my threshold is USD120 for a single item because the most I’ve splurged is on my Clarisonic Mia (I did that twice, in fact).
For skincare that comes in a bottle/jar, the most I’ve paid is SGD160 (USD130) for SKII Treatment Essence that I faithfully bought at duty-free for a couple of years way back when I was living in Singapore. I have obviously stopped using this product but I brought it up to illustrate an example of my spending history.
I would willingly part with SGD72 (USD58) for a Chanel face powder or 5000JPY (USD55) for a Jill Stuart blush compact or USD69 for a Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream, but I cannot bring myself to pay USD300 for La Mer. That’s just not me – and sorry to all La Mer fans – as I can’t believe a night cream could perform miracles even with a high price tag. I might pay up to USD150-180 for a serum (e.g. Skinceuticals) but I have not ventured into such territory. For me to justify such a splurge would require a product that is quick-acting and imparts a visible improvement to my skin.
Perhaps my limits would seem low to some folks out there or too indulgent for others. How about you? Do share your thoughts!
